The Institute for Black Solidarity with Israel revealed old tweets with racial slurs and antisemitic attacks from College Democrats of America Vice President Tasneem Al-Michael. For example, in August of 2014, in responding to a tweet with the text, “[on my way] to f – your b–”, Al-Michael responded, “N –…”
Other recovered social media posts show Al-Michael’s differing views from his political party. As recently as August 15, 2021, Al-Michael amplifies his “friend’s” statement calling President Joe Biden a “fascist” on Facebook. Al-Michael also retweets content mocking young global climate change activist Greta Thunberg. In May 2021, Al-Michael retweeted that the United States is the “largest state sponsor of terrorism.”
Also troubling are Al-Michael’s extreme and antisemitic views on Israel and the Jewish people. On December 11, 2019, Al-Michael proudly tweeted, “I’m part of the ‘From the river to the sea’ group.” This hateful chant is just another way of calling for the elimination of the only Jewish state. Additionally, in May 2021, Al-Michael pushes an antisemitic conspiracy that “Israel’s playbook” attacks civilian and medical facilities.
Al-Michael recently announced his candidacy for president of College Democrats of America. The organization claims to have over 100,000 student members in chapters across the United States. With Al-Michael being so high up in the organization, it begs whether this is the future of the Democratic Party – values plagued by racism, antisemitism, and extremism.
But, just like Democrat Virginia Gov. Ralph Northam, Al-Michael will likely be unscathed by his troubling past. In a world where everyone is trying to cancel others, the Democrats consistently don’t play by their own rules. They live by destroying others, but they ignore and blame the victims when they are exposed – think Gov. Andrew Cuomo.
Only time will tell what happens to Al-Michael and his candidacy, but don’t hold your breath for him to step down. Instead, the College Democrats of America will most likely shield him, ignore his past, and continue the same hypocritical cycle. Maybe they will prove the world differently this time.
