Democrat President Joe Biden called on Congress to crack down on Americans’ constitutionally protected Second Amendment rights, demanding unconstitutional gun bans and new laws that will allow people to sue gun manufactures.
“I am calling on Congress to enact commonsense gun law reforms, including required background checks on all gun sales, banning assault weapons and high-capacity magazines, and eliminating immunity for gun manufacturers who knowingly put weapons of war on our streets,” Biden wrote to Congress.
In the statement, Biden calls for ‘banning assault weapons” likely to be going after semi-automatic weapons to be banned, and there was nothing in the statement about allowing current gun owners to keep those weapons. If gun owners are likely not to comply with the specific semi-auto gun ban under Biden, a mandatory gun confiscation program might take effect.
Something similar took place after the Las Vegas shooting when the Trump administration banned bump stocks.
Biden also called upon Congress to enact legislation that would strip gun manufacturers of immunity from lawsuits who “knowingly put weapons of war on our streets”, thus ultimately attempting to bankrupt the gun industry or force them to drastically change the types of weapons that they are willing to sell. Congress is already working on H.R. 127 to get passed.
When the gun control activists use terms like “weapons of war,” they are generally using that term to portray the weapons that they want to ban as “weapons” that are used in “war,” used by the military. However, what is inaccurate about this is because the types of weapons that gun control activists like David Hogg are referring to is the AR-15, which is Americans’ most popular choice of guns, and they aren’t even used in war. The variants of those rifles that are currently sold by gun manufactures in the U.S. are semi-automatic firearms, not the fully automatic versions that are used by the military.
Biden want’s Congress to restrict American’s constitutionally protected right to bear arms after calling for “unity”.
Statistically, one out of three Americans own a firearm, nearly half the country lives in a household that has firearms present, there are more firearms than people in the United States. During the COVID-19 pandemic, gun sales smashed all-time records amid the rise of violent riots that broke out in major U.S. cities, which are largely controlled by Democrats. Nearly 5 million Americans bought a firearm for the first time last year.
Statistician Leah Libresco wrote in the Washington Post following the Las Vegas shooting that she used to believe that gun control was the answer to combat gun violence, but her own research eventually proved otherwise.
“A reduction in gun deaths is most likely to come from finding smaller chances for victories and expanding those solutions as much as possible ,” Libresco concluded her research. “We save lives by focusing on a range of tactics to protect the different kinds of potential victims and reforming potential killers, not from sweeping bans focused on the guns themselves.”
It seems Biden doesn’t see any limit to how he’s going to punish law abiding gun owners because of the malice of a few, he has talked about taxing gun owners, banning magazines “that can hold multiple bullets in them”, offering “no compromise”” on the issue, and also calling on a “rational policy” that ensures that “you cannot have 20, 30 ,40, 50 clips in a weapon.”
While on the campaign trail, Biden said that far-left gun control activist Robert Francis O’Rourke was “going to be the one who leads this effort” for the Biden administration. O’Rourke has called for confiscating firearms from Americans.
