During an appearance Sunday morning on CNN’s “State of the Union,” Dr. Anthony Fauci said that Americans could return to “some form of normalcy” by the fall, nearly a year from now.
Fauci stated during the interview that the general population could see widespread vaccination during the summer months.
“Well, if you look at the logistics of it, Dana, right now, we are going through the priority groups,” said Fauci, noting that the priority groups include healthcare workers and those with “underlying conditions.”
“Once you get there, what I call open season, namely when anybody who is anybody, you don’t have to be a priority person, should get vaccinated. I think we are going to get there probably end of March, beginning of April,” said Fauci.
Fauci also states that 85% of the US population could be vaccinated by the “mid to late summer.”
“I hope by the time we get to the fall, we will reach that critical percentage of people that we can really start thinking about and return to some form of normality,” said Fauci.
Fauci has a history of changing his statements. Fauci had previously stated during interviews with CNN’s Chris Cuomo and MSNBC’s Hallie Jackson that by late June, people could stop wearing face coverings because a significant portion of the population would be vaccinated.
Fauci also admitted to constantly lying to the American people because he thought they were not ready to hear his true beliefs.
