U.S Secret Service is investigating death threats against Mike Pence made by lawyer Lin Wood, according to Fox News.
Wood made a post saying “Get the firing squads ready. Mike Pence goes FIRST.” This post has since been deleted and Wood was banned from Parler.
“We are aware of the comments and take all threats against our protectees seriously,” said a Secret Service spokesperson to Fox News.
The Secret Service is also investigating others who have allegedly were seen on video yelling “hang Mike Pence.”
The hashtag “Hang Mike Pence” was trending on Twitter later in the week. A Twitter spokesperson told Fox News that Twitter “blocked the phrase and other variations of it from trending.”
The CEO of Parler, John Matze told Mediaite that they had removed a post from Lin Wood calling for Mike Pence’s execution by “firing squads.”
“Yes, some of his parleys that violated our rules were taken down,” said Matze. “Including the ones you are talking about.”
Matze also wondered why Twitter had kept up tweets with a screenshot of Lin Wood’s message.
“I’m curious why Twitter never took down that tweet with the screenshot,” said Matze. “Seems to be spreading Lin’s message, which was a violation on Parler.”
Wood stated that he was unaware of any action from Parler when reached out by Mediaite
“I am unaware of any actions by Parler to take down my posts,” said Wood. “If such action occurred, I received no notification of it. My post about Pence was rhetorical hyperbole conveying my opinion that his actions on the Electoral College vote were treasonous to We The People.”
