A statewide “Signature Match Review” of absentee ballots was announced by the Georgia Secretary of State today.
The recent move for a widespread signature audit began earlier this week, as originally reported by the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. On Monday, Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger announced a signature audit of ballots in Cobb County, which lies just outside of Atlanta, and is of tremendous importance to the results of the election. Today, that audit was just expanded to the entire state of Georgia, according to the Conservative Review.
Secretary Raffensperger issued a statement in which he sought to reassure voters, “We are confident that elections in Georgia are secure, reliable, and effective.” He elaborated, “Despite endless lawsuits and wild allegations from Washington, D.C. pundits, we have seen no actual evidence of widespread voter fraud, though we are investigating all credible reports. Nonetheless, we look forward to working with the University of Georgia on this signature match review to further instill confidence in Georgia’s voting systems.”
However, despite the frequent denial of election fraud, there are many potential instances of this in Georgia. Examples include the burst pipe in State Farm Arena, the box of ballots suddenly produced after Republican volunteers were allegedly asked to leave, hundreds of thousands of ineligible ballots, and Mark Zuckerberg’s payment of 6.3 million dollars to a Georgia county right before the election.
For weeks on end, Georgia Governor Brian Kemp has been under fire by the President and his supporters, according to the Daily Wire. Many are concerned that Kemp isn’t doing anything in the face of potential election fraud, a move which has dumbfounded many conservative voters who elected Kemp, expecting him to hold loyal to President Trump and his agenda. Many believe that Governor Kemp hasn’t done enough to investigate the legitimacy of ballot signatures in his state.
This includes President, who has been calling for signature audits in Georgia on Twitter beginning almost immediately after a disconcerting election night. President Trump wrote, “Why won’t Governor @BrianKempGA, the hapless governor of Georgia, use his emergency powers, which can be easily done, to overrule his obstinate Secretary of State, and do a match of signatures on envelopes. It will be a “goldmine” of fraud, and we will easily WIN the state.”
The President isn’t alone in his acknowledgment of the Georgia race as extremely consequential. Conservative groups such as Heritage Action for America have sent teams of volunteers and door-knockers into the state, hoping to “stop the Democrats from transforming America and implementing their socialist agenda.” It is obvious that Georgia remains a focal point as to the direction of the United States of America.
It appears that Governor Kemp and Secretary Raffensperger have decided to finally carry out an investigation of sorts, after weeks of pressure from conservative politicians, pundits, and activists. Perhaps after a statewide audit of ballot signatures, the American people will finally be allowed to see the truth.
