Republican Senator Mitt Romney was booed by a crowd of more than 2,000 during a speech at a GOP convention on Saturday.
“Aren’t you embarrassed,” said Romney to the angry crowd. ““I’m a man who says what he means, and you know I was not a fan of our last president’s character issues.”
The crowd also called Romney a “traitor” and a “communist.”
“You can boo all you like,” said Romney. “I’ve been a Republican all of my life. My dad was the governor of Michigan and I was the Republican nominee for president in 2012.” The booing eventually stopped after the Republican party chair Derek Brown told the crowd to “show respect” to the politician.
Utah Governor Spencer Cox also received jeers from the crowd.
“I know some of you hate me for some of the decisions I had to make,” said Cox, referring to his coronavirus restrictions. “But I want to point out that some of you haven’t been paying attention.”
