According to New York City’s mayor, Bill de Blasio, the city will fully reopen by July 1st.
“We are ready for stores to open, for businesses to open, offices, theaters, full strength,” said de Blasio on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe.”
Restaurants, gyms, shops, hair salons, and sports venues are expected to open to full capacity by this date. Broadway is expected to reopen by September. Schools will allegedly be at “full strength” by the fall.
More than 6 million doses of the coronavirus vaccine have been administered in the city, and 36% of its adult population is fully vaccinated.
“What we’re seeing is that people have gotten vaccinated at extraordinary numbers,” said de Blasio. “This is going to be the summer of New York City. I think people are going to flock to New York City because they want to live again.”
