[Opinion] On Wednesday, the Senate Homeland Security and Finance Committees released the interim report on their joint investigation into Hunter Biden’s position on the board of Ukrainian natural gas firm Burisma Holdings and his alleged “extensive and complex financial transactions.”
A new documentary was recently released called ‘Riding the Dragon‘ by New York Times bestselling author Peter Schweitzer who lays out a foundation of the level of corruption the Biden family was involved in inside China, through proxy corporations owned or tied to the communist Chinese government.
Homeland Security Committee Chairman Ron Johnson (R-WI) and Finance Committee Chairman Chuck Grassley (R-IA) stated their investigation has “faced many obstacles” from Democrats on their committees and that executive agencies “failed to comply with document requests.” The Democrats are hoping upon hope that they win back the majority in the Senate so that they can throw all of the investigations into their own corruption out the window. It won’t go away completely, but a Democrat majority in the Senate likely spells a whitewash like you’ve never seen.
The chairmen added that “there remains much work to be done” in their probe. Hunter Biden is the son of the former vice president and Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden. Hunter’s position on the board of Burisma is a glaring example of government corruption. Don’t believe me? Hunter Biden had little to no experience whatsoever (that we can find) in the natural gas industry, the energy sector, or Ukraine. We do not know if he had even been to Ukraine until his father, as vice president, was put in charge of stamping out corruption there by his boss, President Barack Obama. It looks to me as if Hunter became their general council (my words not theirs) and his job was not to help fight corruption, but to use the influence of his father’s government office to swindle Burisma out of trouble with the law for their own corrupt bargains.
Hunter’s board position, with no experience, paid him tens o thousands of dollars a month. That wasn’t a typo. The corruption natural gas company paid a man with zero experience, who didn’t even speak the language, millions of dollars in the aggregate, is beyond comprehension.
The 87-page report reveals that Obama administration officials “knew” that Hunter Biden’s position on the board of Burisma was “problematic” and that it interfered “in the efficient execution of policy with respect to Ukraine.” But they didn’t care. Their motto seems to be, “The Democrats. it’s okay when we do it.”
“This investigation has illustrated the extent to which officials within the Obama administration ignored the glaring warning signs when the vice president’s son joined the board of a company owned by a corrupt Ukrainian oligarch,” the report said in the executive summary.
April 2014 is when Hunter Biden joined the board of Burisma, and supposedly at the time, connected the company with the consulting firm of Blue Star Strategies. He allegedly facilitated the relationship in order to assist the natural gas company combat corruption charges in Ukraine. During the time Biden was on Burisma’s board, then-Vice President Joe Biden was picked as the ‘point man‘ for US foreign policy operations in Ukraine. However, now it sure seems like Joe Biden was contributing to the corruption in Ukraine.
“Even though Hunter Biden’s position on Burisma’s board cast a shadow over the work of those advancing anticorruption reforms in Ukraine, the Committees are only aware of two individuals who raised concerns to their superiors,” the Senate report stated. “Despite the efforts of these individuals, their concerns appear to have fallen on deaf ears.”
The report said that State Department official George Kent, who testified during President Donald Trump’s phony impeachment hearings last year, and Amos Hochstein, the former US special envoy and coordinator for International Energy Affairs, brought up concerns they had to the former vice president’s office. Of course, they were ignored.
On top of that, the report said that Hunter Biden “formed significant and consistent financial relationships” with the founder of Burisma, Mykola Zlochevsky, and that his and his business partner Devon Archer’s firms “made millions of dollars from that association” while his father was the vice president.
The Senate committees additionally revealed in the report that they obtained records from the US Treasury Department, which “show potential criminal activity relating to transactions among and between Hunter Biden, his family, and his associates with Ukrainian, Russian, Kazakh and Chinese nationals.”
The committees said that they received documents that Hunter Biden “sent thousands of dollars” to people who’ve “either been involved in transactions consistent with possible human trafficking; an association with the adult entertainment industry; or potential association with prostitution.”
“Some recipients of those funds are Ukrainian or Russian citizens,” the report states, adding that “the records note that it is a documented fact that Hunter Biden has sent funds to non-resident alien women in the United States who are citizens of Russia and Ukraine and who have subsequently wired funds they have received from Hunter Biden to individuals located in Russia and Ukraine.”
“The records also note that some of these transactions are linked to what ‘appears to be an Eastern European prostitution or human trafficking ring,’” the report stated.
In the meantime, the report says that Senate investigators discovered millions of dollars in “questionable financial transactions” between Hunter Biden and his associates and foreign people, together with the wife of the former mayor of Moscow, Russia as well as others with ties linked to the Chinese Communist Party. So, Hunter Biden, by extension of his father, the sitting vice president of the United States, was ‘colluding,’ at the very least financially, with Russian and Chinese government types, yet they projected Russian collusion onto Donald Trump and his campaign. You really can’t make this kind of stuff up.
The report says an investment firm co-founded by Hunter Biden, Rosemont Seneca Thornton, “received $3.5 million in a wire transfer” from Elena Baturina, the wife of the former mayor of the Russian capital. Are we supposed to believe that was just a generous gift?
The report goes into details alleging that not just Hunter Biden but other members of the Biden family “were involved in a vast financial network that connected them to foreign nationals and foreign governments across the globe.” And Joe Biden said he knew nothing of his son’s overseas ventures. I call bullschtein! The Obama White House knew, which means Biden knew, it seems completely implausible to me that Joe would not know.
On one occasion, the report said that Hunter Biden “opened a bank account” with a Chinese national linked to China’s communist government, which “financed a $100,000 global spending spree” for the former vice president’s brother, James Biden, and his wife, Sara Biden.
The report, including the investigation itself, has been scrutinized by Democrats, and Mitt Romney and other RINOs. Democrats want a cover up and the RINOs want it to just go away for fear that backlash will affect them. Cowards.
Biden campaign spokesman Andrew Bates on Wednesday blasted the investigation, and Johnson directly, for pursuing a “conspiracy theory.” Everything exposed about Democrat corruption is a conspiracy theory. Yeah, all the documents received and analyzed are nothing but a conspiracy theory. All the interviews done with the people involved is nothing but a conspiracy theory. What a joke.
“As the coronavirus death toll climbs and Wisconsinites struggle with joblessness, Ron Johnson has wasted months diverting the Senate Homeland Security & Governmental Affairs Committee away from any oversight of the catastrophically botched federal response to the pandemic, a threat Sen. Johnson has dismissed by saying that ‘death is an unavoidable part of life.’ Why? To subsidize a foreign attack against the sovereignty of our elections with taxpayer dollars — an attack founded on a long-disproven, hardcore right-wing conspiracy theory that hinges on Sen. Johnson himself being corrupt and that the Senator has now explicitly stated he is attempting to exploit to bail out Donald Trump’s re-election campaign,” Bates said in a statement Wednesday.
And last week, Senator Mitt Romney (R-UT), slammed the Homeland Security Committee’s probe into the younger Biden’s role on the board of Burisma Holdings as a “political exercise.” If Romney is against it I would bet that there is ‘there, there.’
“I know the committee has undertaken two major investigations that have political implications and one, of course, is the, I’ll call it the Biden/Burisma investigation,” Romney said last week. “And that, I think, from the outset had the earmarks of a political exercise and I’m fearful that comments made in the media recently have only confirmed that perspective.” How much you wanna bet Romney is somehow, some way involved? Who is Cofer Black?
Romney went on to say that “obviously, it’s the province of campaigns and political parties, opposition research, the media, to carry out political endeavors to learn about or dust up at one’s opponent.” Except that’s not what’s happening here. When the Obama administration holds a White House meeting with all the top folks needed to speak with Ukrainian government folks on how to handle the “Hunter Biden problem,” it’s not opposition research.
“But it is not the legitimate role of government, for Congress or for taxpayer expense, to be used in an effort to damage political opponents,” Romney said. But it is the proper role of government at taxpayer expense to weed out government corruption.
