Attendees at President Biden’s inauguration consistently violated CDC social distance guidelines throughout the 59th inauguration ceremony. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s website the highest risk category is a, “Large in-person gatherings where it is difficult for individuals to remain spaced at least 6 feet apart and with attendees coming from outside the local area.”
Although some attendees in the front of the Capitol were social distanced from one another, the audience on stage wasn’t social distanced at all. The Clintons, the Bushs, the Obamas, Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi, Senator Amy Klobuchar, and Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer, all were not social distanced from one another.
President Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris also continuously fist-bumped others which is also a violation of the CDC guidelines.
“Attendees often exchange handshakes, fist bumps, and high-fives at meetings and sporting events. Display signs (physical and/or electronic) that discourage these actions during the event.”
